Noun
a word that names a person,place,thing, or idea
Examples: finesse, education, school, New York, teacher
Helpful reminder: the teacher
Pronoun
a word used in place of a noun
Examples: i, her, him, it, that, these, she, he
Adjective
A word that describes or gives information about a noun or pronoun
Examples: colorful, odious, incessant, joyful, loud
Helpful reminder: the colorful truck
Verb
a word that shows action or state of being
Examples: talk, jump, scream, run, am, are
Helpful reminder: verbs change when in the present, past, or future tense
Adverb
A word that described a verb, adjective or other adverb and tells where, when, or what to extent
Examples: slowly, carefully, incessantly
Helpful reminder: often ends in “ly”
Preposition
Shows the relationship of a noun or pronoun to another word
Examples: to over, under,at, between the tree
Helpful reminder: the squirrel ran between the tree
Conjuction
A word that connects words, groups of words and sentences
Examples: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so
Interjection
A word that expresses surprise or a strong feeling separate from the sentence
Examples: Wow! Hey!
Intervene
Become involved in something in order to influence it failed to intervene “bystander” (verb)
Depicts
To show or represent in an art form
Picts- like picture storyline-the necessity of a law (verb)
Directive
Including management or guidance
“ students think through things instead”=opposite (adjective)
Solicit
To ask for trying to obtain (verb)
A fundraiser
Foray
Initial attempt (noun) "first-behind the camera
Tone
Feeling or attitude expressed by the words (author)
Cite
To quote (passage,book,article, ect). As support or proof of an argument; to give credit to the source (verb)
