all the events in a story from sequential order from beginning to end

exposition
A
the characters and setting are introduced

conflict

the main character’s problem in the story

rising action
A
all the events leading up to the climax; suspense starts to build

climax
A
the most exciting or intense part of the story; the character faces his problem

falling action
A
the consequences (positive or negative) of facing the problem - what is the character doing right after the climax.

resolution
A
The end of the story; all the problems are solved - the character MAY learn a lesson
