Requirements for holding a pilot license

A

Current pilot license issues in accordance with this part of a foreign pilot licensing authority and a validation permit issues in accordance with rule 61.9 or the CA safety authority of Australia if the trans-Tasman mutual recognition act 1997 applies to this license.

A

Current pilot license for appropriate aircraft and have conversion instruction flight experience acceptable to the director

Turbine powered aircraft:
passed an approved basic turbine knowledge examination; and demonstrate to an appropriate instructor technical knowledge and demonstrate the ability to complete all normal, abnormal, and emergency manoeuvres

More than 5700kg MCTOW or multi-engine helicopter:
complete an approved course of technical training and have passed an approved written exam in the normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures for operation of the heli systems and in the helicopter performance weight and Balance.

Not exceeding 5700kg or sing engine heli:
Passed approved written examination in the normal,abnormal and emergency procedures for the operation of the helicopters systems and in the helicopter performance weight and balance.

Not greater then 1500kg MCTOW: oral examination is acceptable.

State the requirements for entering flight details into a pilot logbook. For instrument flight and synthetic flight

A

Instrument: Date, aircraft type, registration flight time; and the simulated and actual instrument flight time; and any type of training, including dual instruction and command practice; the name of the flight instructor or safety pilot

Synthetic flight trainer:

Flight trainer; and the instrument ground time; and any other ground time: the function of the pilot as any of the following:

PIC or PIC/US, co-pilot, student, place of departure, any intermediate landing, and the place of arrival, day or night:
Flight under IF, the number and type of instrument approach procedures flown:
Training flight, details of the training exercise:

Flight in a glider, the method of launch for the flight:

Flight in a balloon, the method or type of inflation used for the flight.

The logbook must be an approved bound book with the details entered in indelible ink; or on a computer generated flight record inserted permanently into the logbook.

For a series of flights on the same day, make separate entries
Certified at the bottom of each page by the pilot

Be retained permanently by the pilot unless the pilot licence is revoked in which case the log book must be retained for a period of at least 12 months from the date of revocation.

If a computer-generated report is inserted the pilot must make a written logbook entry

An incorrect entry may be altered by putting a line through the entry

Entry requirements for logbook

A

Every entry must be made within 7 days after the completion of the flight except an international air transport operation, the entry must be made within 14 days of the flight.

If a pilot is engaged in an operation away from the base where the logbook is normally kept, the entry in the logbook must be made within 48 hours after return to
base

A

Must not fly solo unless 16 years, holds a class 2 medical certificate

Sufficient English

Can adequately carry out the responsibilities of PIC

The flight is authorised by a A, B, or C flight instructor rating, except for a first solo

flight by day or by night which must be a Category A or B
Category A or B flight instructor has certified in the person’s logbook that they have received instruction and demonstrated competence in the following:

Dual instruction within the last 5 hours unless authorised by a A or B flight instructor

Piloting experience in appropriate aircraft within the last 30 days
If the flight is a solo cross country flight,be authorised by a A or B flight instructor

Holds a valid written examination credit for a private pilot licence.

The flight instructor who authorises the solo flight must monitor the actions of the pilot during the solo flight.

  • Any inoperative instrument is repaired, replaced, removed, at the next inspection
