Memorise particles and their meanings.
が
Emphasises the word before it.
Emphasises opposite meanings.
E.g. だれが 来ましたか。
漢字は むずかしいですが、おもしろいです。
を
Indicates action after a noun and before a verb.
E.g. 毎朝、７時に 家を でます。
に
Indicates place or direction of movement.
Indicates time.
E.g. バスに 乗ります。
今朝、７時に 起きました。
で
Gives context to an action by emphasising how or where an action is done.
E.g. 部屋で 勉強します。
飛行機で アメリカへ 行きます。
へ
Similar to に, but emphasises destination.
E.g. 家へ 帰ります。
と
“And”; for listing things when you know everything on the list.
E.g. 本と ノートを 買いました。
から•まで
Indicates “to” and “from”.
Indicates “start” and “finish”.
E.g. うちから 学校まで 歩いて 行きます。
学校の 勉強は ９時から ３時までです。

Listing things when you don’t know everything on the list.
E.g. 駅の 前に 銀行や スーパーなどが あります。
の
Possessive particle.
E.g. 日本の 車は とても いいです。

Indicates subject and emphasises the information after.
E.g. 私は ABKの 学生です。
も
“Also” or “too”.
Indicates an action didn’t or hasn’t happened when places after a question word (なに、だれ、どこ).
E.g. スミスさんは アメリカ人です。ジョーンズさんも アメリカ人です。
公園に だれも いません。
か
Indicates a question when placed after a question word or at the end of a sentence.
E.g. 何か 食べましたか。
ね
Sentence ender asking for agreement, or to check if something is correct.
E.g. ここは ABKホテルですね。
よ
Sentence ender to emphasise the information said before it.
Often used to relay new information that you are certain about.
E.g. 銀行は 駅の 前に ありますよ。
くらい (ぐらい)
Describes an approximate amount.
E.g. 15分くらい バスに 乗ります。
