What is abstention?
The act of not voting as you are not pleased by any of the parties policies eg Russell Brand
State three reasons why people may be apathetic
They think that whatever partit is elected it won’t affect them much so there isn’t much point in voting
They find politics too complicated
They aren’t interested
State three reasons why people may abstain from voting
They think the parties policies are too similar (too central )
They may not vote as a form of protest vote as they are angry at the parties previous mistakes
They live in a safe seat so there vote would almost be a wasted vote
When people are hapathetic they don’t want thinks to Change and are happy with life so don’t vote
What is apathy?
When people have a lack of interest in political matters therefore they don’t vote leading to a low turnout
