DSM 5 Autism Diagnosis criteria is…
A. 1. deficits in social/emotional reciprocity
- deficits in nonverbal communication (such as eye contact, or understanding use of gestures and facial expressions)
- deficits in developing, maintaining, and understanding of relationships (including difficulty adjusting behavior to social context)
B. Restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior such as…
- stereotyped or repetitive motor movements, use of objects or speech.
- insistence on sameness, inflexible adherence to routines, or ritualized patterns or verbal nonverbal behavior (e.g. extreme distress at small changes, difficulties with transitions, rigid thinking patterns, greeting rituals, need to take same route or eat food every day)
- highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus (e.g. strong attachment to or preoccupation with unusual objects, excessively circumscribed or perseverative interest)
- hyper- or hypo reactivity to sensory input or unusual interests in sensory aspects of the environment (e.g. apparent indifference to pain/temperature, adverse response to specific sounds or textures, excessive smelling or touching of objects, visual fascination with lights or movement)

interaction of a person with its environment; any action of muscles or glands. Actions that can be observed measured and repeated. We do not refer to internal motivations.
What is Target Behavior and Replacement behavior?
Target behavior is the behavior we want to change. Replacement behavior is the behavior we want to replace target behavior with.
Frequency
number of times a behavior occurs (4 times out of seat)
Rate
number of times a behavior occurs within a given time interval (27 foot taps within 1 minute)
Duration
how long a behavior occurs (stared out window 4 minutes)
Latency
Time between antecedent and beginning of behavior (7 minutes to begin HW from when asked to do so)
Magnitude
intensity with which the behavior occurs (bite left teeth mark but did not break skin)
