What is contained in anterior mediastinum?
A
Little more than potential space. Overlapped anterior edges of both lungs and contains thymus

Describe the structure of the thymus
A
Bilobed organ, more prominent in children.. Appears like pink fatty tissue with denser lobules.

What is blood supply to thymus
A
Inferior thyroid and internal thoracic

Where does thymus develop from?
A
Endoderm - probably 4th branchial clefts.
Ectoderm - same clefts
Some connective tissue is likely from mesoderm

What is anterior to thymus?
A
Pretracheal fascia, Sternohyoid, Sternothyroid and manubrium
