Tempera
an art medium in the form of a stick, consisting of powdered pigment and a binder.
Pastel
Also called a hot wax painting. Painting with wax colors fixed with heat.
Encaustic
is the process of painting with pigments with a medium of drying oil as the binder.
Oil
synthetic paint is used. Contemporary painters use this medium a lot.
Acrylic
A pattern or image made of small regular or irregular pieces of colored stone, glass or ceramic, held in place by plaster/mortar, and covering a surface.
Mosaic
brown pigment extracted from boiling the soot of the wood.
Bistre
pigments bound by wax and compressed into painted sticks.
Crayons
obtained by burning wood or other organic substances in the absence of oxygen.
Charcoal
elements remain attached to a solid background of the same material.
Relief
made by combining small pieces of colored glass which are held by heavy iron bars [in churches].
