What is a U-turn?
maneuver in which a driver changes direction by making a 180-degree turn
What are the rules while making a U-turn?
*Always yield right of way to oncoming vehicles and pedestrians
*Never make a U-turn on a curve in the road or when approaching the crest of a hill or grade
*Never make a U-turn on an interstate highway. Instead, proceed to the next exit and re-enter the highway in the opposite direction
What are the rules for a four-way stop?
Stop and look for oncoming traffic then proceed when it is safe to do so.
If you arrive at the same time as the other driver at a four-way stop who has the right of way?
The driver to the right
What is a roundabout?
Circular intersection in which traffic enters or exits only through right turns and proceeds in a counter-clockwise direction.
When you approach a roundabout what do you do?
Yield to the traffic already in the roundabout
What should you not do in a circular roundabout?
Change lanes
What is the difference between a traffic circle and a roundabout?
A roundabout may have clockwise AND counter-clockwise traffic
What is used to guide the drivers to the proper lane in a roundabout?
Signs, pavement markings, or both
What can present a traffic hazard to a smaller vehicle in a roundabout?
In a multilane roundabout where smaller vehicles are driving alongside larger vehicles
When approaching a multilane roundabout what must you yield to?
large vehicles driving through the roundabout at the same time
If two large vehicles are approaching or driving through a roundabout at the same time who must yield?
The driver in the right lane must yield to the driver in the left lane
If you are following a vehicle who has signaled an intention to make a turn or slowed down and may be planning a turn what must you do?
Slow down and be prepared to stop
