describe the mandate, roles and responsibilities of the CBSA;

A

it is the CBSA that establishes, implements, and manages the policies and processes for the importation and exportation of goods.

Role:
- Manages the nation’s borders by enforcing Canadian laws governing trade and travel, as well as international agreements and conventions;
- facilitating legitimate cross-border traffic; and
- supporting economic development while stopping people and goods that pose a potential threat to Canada.

Mandate: The Agency is responsible for providing integrated border services that support national security and public safety priorities and facilitate the free flow of persons and goods, including animals and plants that meet all requirements under the program legislation.

Mission: To ensure Canada’s security and prosperity by managing the access of people and goods to and from Canada.
