What are the guidelines of graphics?
Each graphic must be clear, each graphic must convey a specific meaning, each graphic must not be too small
When was the telegraph invented, and why whom?
1837 by Samuel Finley Morse, American inventor
What is a morse code?
Dots and dashes, transmitted through wires. Dots were short buzzes and dashes were long ones. Also transmitted through flashing lights. Dots and dashes made up alphabet
What are the types of drawings?
Free hand and Instrument
What defines a free hand drawing?
Needs only pencil, paper and eraser, drawn easily and quickly and conveys ideas faster, changes are made easily and it isn’t quite accurate
What defines an instrument drawing?
Need instruments and computer equipment, takes time to draw and waiting period to view new drawings, changes take time and is accurate
How many dimensions are there in graphics?
Three
What defines a 1D drawing?
One side, one measurement, cannot have breadth or height
What defines a 2D drawing?
More than one line, has length and breadth, any flat drawing
What defines a 3D drawing?
Height, length and breadth/depth and impression of thickness or depth given by third dimension
What is an exploded diagram?
Different components are separated but in line to show how to assemble a product
What are the four parts of visual arts?
Sketches, images, rendering, perspective
What are the three parts of technical drawings?
Isometric, orthographic, scale
