PART 2: DEFINTIONS (24) Flashcards
Automatic disconnection of supply is used as a method of protection for (Part 2 Definitions p.30)
a) Indirect contact
b) Basic protection
c) Fault protection
d) Direct contact
c) Fault protection
Part 2: Definitions p.30
Fault protection.
Protection against electric shock under single fault conditions. NOTE: For low voltage installations, systems and equipment, fault protection generally corresponds to protection against indirect contact, mainly with regard to failure of basic insulation. Indirect contact is “contact of persons or livestock
with exposed-conductive-parts which have become live under fault conditions”.
A line conductor includes (Definitions p.32)
a) All live conductors
b) All live conductors and c.p.c. (Circuit Protective Conductor
c) All conductors except neutral, protective conductors and PEN conductor
d) All conductors except PEN conductor
c) All conductors except neutral, protective conductors and PEN conductor
Part 2 Definitions p.32
Line conductor.
A conductor of an AC system for the transmission of electrical energy other than a neutral conductor, a protective conductor or a PEN conductor. The term also means the equivalent conductor of a DC
system unless otherwise specified in the Regulations.
