Part 107 Flashcards
Minimum age for remote pilot certificate
16 Years Old
How soon must you report an accident to the FAA
10 Days of any operation resulting in >$500 damage or serios bodily injury
Maximum ground speed for small UAS operation?
87 Kts or 100 MPH
Max altitude for sUAS
400ft AGL / 400ft radius from highest point
Max blood alcohol level
.04%
Minimum elapsed time from drinking alcohol to operating a sUAS
8 hours
Sold BLUE lines on a sectional chart denoteCLASS ___ airspace.
Class B Airspace
B = Big City
Solid MAGENTA lines on a sectional chart denote CLASS ____ airspace.
Class C Airspace
C = City
110/SFC
Controlled airspace from the surface up to 11,000’ MSL
110/20
Controlled airspace from 2,000’ MSL to 11,000’ MSL
Dotted BLUE circles or sets of lines denote Class ____ airspace and require authorization to fly.
Class D Airspace
D = Dime Sized
[25]
Class D controlled airspace from the surface up to 2,500 MSL.
[-25]
Class D controlled airspace from the surface up to (but not including) 2,500’ MSL.
When a Class D airport tower is not in operation, one of the following becomes applicable
a) Class E surface area rules
b) Combination of class E rules to 700’ AGL and Class G rules to the surface
Class E Airspace
Elemental or Everywhere - Controlled Airspace.
Need authorization when “within the lateral boundaries of the surface area of Class E airspace designated for an airport”
Marked by a MAGENTA dotted circle or lines
Class E Airspace
Marked by a thicker, magenta shaded fuzzy set of lines
Class E Airspace - No authorization required to fly
Class G Airspace
Uncontrolled airspace / No authorization to fly is required unless there is a TFR/NOTAM advising otherwise.
Special Use Airspace
Defined which certain activities must be confined or where limitations may be imposed on aircraft operations that are not part of those activities.
Special Use Air Space
Prohibited areas are marked with a P and a number.
No flying allowed in these areas
Restricted Air Space
Restricted areas are marked with an R and a number and are denoted by BLUE hash marks.
Drone pilots may fly in these areas with authorization from the controlling agency. Often used for test ranges, artillery fire, missiles etc
Areas marked with a W are?
Warning areas. Similar to restricted areas - you can fly with authorization.
Military Operations Areas are marked MOA on a chart.
Each pilot is responsible for collision avoidance. Contact the controlling agency to find out if the area is “hot” or not and for more information.
Alert areas are depicted on a sectional chart with an A and a number.
Purpose is to inform non-participating pilots of areas that may contain a high volume of pilot training or an unusual type of aerial activity. Drone pilots may fly in these areas but should exercise extreme caution.
