Where did you go to school?
The Cherwell School academy. From year 7 to year 13
Where are you at university?
The University of Sheffield
What grades are you getting at uni?
Averaging high 2:1 at the minute , around 67-68 (golden number)
How do/have you found university/school life?
I have defininetly enjoyed university life. Not so much recently of course as I haven’t been able to make the most of the modern cutting edge facilities i’m still paying full price to access or go to the oub with my friends.
I’m actually at home at the moment becasue living at university is an unnecessary expense during lockdown. The aspect I’ve enjoyed the most is the independence and breaking away from living at home. Having to be responsible for my own wellbeing through the basics such as cooking, washing clothes, organising gas/electricity has definitely helped me gorw up.
What responsibilites/achievements did you get at university/school?
So I was incredibly proud of my GCSE’s, less so with A Levels but none the less immensely pleased to get into the University of Sheffield.
I also achieved grade 4 trumper while at school.
In terms of responsibility while at uni I’m actually this years treasurer for the University’s Sub Aqua club after joining at the start of second year. This means I’m an important commitee members responsible for the clubs finances in what is a tricky year for everyone.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Like most people what I do with my free time have changed with covid.
At the moment as we’re limited by lockdown I like to:
I am trying to get back into reading books, while I frequentyl read the news, like a lot of people I kind of fell out of reading book when it was no longer necssary in school. But I’m trting to get back into it.
Play video games on my laptop, me and my brother currently collaborate in game.
I enjoy watching movies and series. Just finished rewatching Breaking Bad.
I also love taking my dog on walks.
Getting back into my running
I really enjoy cooking as well and trying new recipes.
If there were no lockdowns:
I’d love to be able to go diving
I do enjoy a pub so cant wait for that first pint when lockdown is over
I’d love to go on some holidays, travel and maybe ski as we’ve missed out on two years of that.
Where have you been employed?
Hermes-courier-2020 summer
Waitrose- 2017/2018 and then some temping in holidays
The handle bar cafe - 2016
Go Kart Party Oxfordhsire - 2011-2016
What positions of responsibilities did you have during that employment?
- Main responsibility was at Waitrose. As I worked predominantly on the meat and fish counter I had a responsibility in terms of hygiene and food safety standards. Making sure standards are met so that essentially customers were receieving safe food. This involved stock management and a lot of cleaning.
- At Hermes I was repsonsible for making sure people got their parcels. This involved a lot of time management/organisation as I sometimes had 70 parcels rammed in my little fiesta. Also customer service as I didn’t want to be the stereotypical hermes driver that lobs your parcel over the fence.
What was your major sporting achievement and how did you get involved with that sport?
–So I dont think I’ve had any major sporting achievements unless getting my diving license counts. I got indo diving after 2 try dives on seperate holidays and knew I wanted to take it furhter
-I used to play a lot of Hockey but feel out of it when I decided I’d rather spend my weekend out with friends. I also used to swim a lot however I did it for the fitness so when my instructors began pushing me to do galas I wasn’t so interested.
I’m hoping that as a part my service life I can get back into hockey and swimming. I know there’s big inter service rivalry, my dad has gone to watch a few hockey games with the raf and the royal navy.
What youth organisations have you been involved in?
I belonged to the Oxford Sea cubs and then sea scouts for a number of years. I remember really enjoying the expeditions/camping and water activities in the summer. My favourite thing was the orienteering. There was one time at a scout camp in Oxford where there was an orienteering competition. I was in a group with older kids but after they had a huge argument mid way I ended up leading the group and we finished the course in a decent time.
What adventure training have you done?
So I haven’t done any specific courses per say. But in sschool we went trip to an activity camp in Wales called Sealyham where we did bushcraft, coasteering, archery etc. That I think was my favourite school trip ever.
When I went to Madeira with my friend to get my diving license we also went canyoning and parasailing.
What travel have you done?
Most travel I’ve done has been with my parents. But this has included places like Tanzania, Croatia, USA east coast then USA west coast, Cyprus, Spain,,Germany(christmas markets), France (skiing and summer)
I haven’t yet had the opportunity to travel like a backpacker for an extended period of time. However this is something I’m interested in doing at some point.
What is your most significant achievement?
My most significant achievement will be completeing my aerospace engineering degree.
Why did you choose to go to university?
- Frankly it seemed like the logical step at the time. I was intrested in the engineering career path and I didn’t want to miss the experience and development that I know university would provide.
- Also the fact that I was able to get into a prestigious university known for it’s engineering department helped cement my decision.
