Steps to follow during an exposure incident..
-Stop your service
-Put on gloves; if not already on
-Stop the bleeding by applying pressure
-Using antiseptic once bleeding has stopped
Bandage the cut if necessary
-Clean and disinfect your work station
-Discard any single contaminated items (placing them in a bag before disposing)
-Recommend your client to see a physician if any signs of redness, swelling, pain develops
-write an incident exposure (date, location, type of injury, any antiseptic that you used, clients name, address, phone number, witnesses)
-non-severe injuries such as a cuticle cut should be recorded on a client sheet but no need to fill out an incident report
