What are the amygdala’s main functions?
A
- process and remember our emotions and behavior
- works out how to respond to environmental stimuli

What are the Thalamus’ main functions?
A
- involved with wakefulness and sleep
- high order brain processing

How does the Thalamus process information?
A
- specialized nuclei process information from our receptors
- it then sends it to the cerebral cortex to be further processed
- works with cerebral cortex to modulate this information

What are the hypothalamus main functions?
A
- maintain equilibrium in the body
- release correct hormones to regulate unconscious bodily functions
- receives messages from nervous system and releases hormones that affect our growth and development

What are the hippocampus’s main functions?
A
- regulates emotions
- forms, transfers, and consolidates memories
- most effectively forming memories with complex visual imagery
- temporarily stores spacial memory before sending it to long term memory
