Territory
Defined land with borders;
Population
Population, people living in the country, the majority have to be citizens;
Regime
A type of how to run a country as a government (Democracy, Dictatorship, Monarchy, etc…);
Souveranity
The Regime/government is the only that is rulling;
Dictatorship
A person/body in complete controll of the country;
Democracy
The country is runned by the population
Monarchy
A political system based upon the individual souveranity (monarchy is a type of dictatorship, son of the king gets the new ruler)
What’s a monarch?
Mostly a king or a queen
Law
Rules everyone has to follow
Constitution
A document, on which the whole country/state is based on
Ethnical group
People cant decide it, they are born into it, they share culture, language, heritage (sometimes religion too)
2 types of democracy
Straight democracy and representative democracy
Representative democracy
citizens vote for their government officials. These officials represent the citizens’ ideas and concerns in government
Straight democracy
people decide on policies without any intermediary or representative (like you vote either for Donald Trump or Biden)
Nationality
The status of belonging to a particular nation
Ethnical nationality
A nation based on its ethnic population
Political nationality
People with the same political view come up to be a nation
Advantage/Disadvantage of an ethnic nationality
Advantage:
Unity, less conflicts
Disadvatage:
Possibly less tolerance to people that are different
Political nationality (Advantage/Disadvantage)
Everyone agrees on the same thing,
You can get people with different knowledge (e.g. Spanish,Jewish, French Americans
Disadvantage:
Ethnic minority families are more likely to experiencediscrimination and prejudice.

Principle of split powers:
Judicial- (independent courts), they prevent the government to make laws that are against the constitution
Executive - government. Schools, army, hospitals, etc…everything too
It’s there for the people.
Legislative - parlament
It makes laws
It represents the people
