What does the word Bible mean?
The word bible means “the books”
it is considered a small library of small books in one.
What are two major divisions of the bible?

Reveals Jesus’ love for humanity and his call to build gods kingdom on earth.

-The Bible is God’s special revelation to all humankind
-The Bible is one of the many ways that God speaks to us

-What we read in the bible is meant to be understood CONTEXTUALLY not LITERALLY
-Christians believe that God also speaks to us outside the Bible through person’s, places, events, and our own conscience
-God leaves people free to hear or ignore God’s revelation as communicated to us through the bible
-There is unity of the two Testaments
(The old Testament prepares us for the New Testament and the New Testament fulfilled the Old
They shed light on each other and are both the true word of God)
Define inspiration
A divine influence upon human beings as that resulting in the writing of the Scriptures
Define inerrancy
While there are minor errors in scriptures (dates, names, etc.) there is NO ERROR in the message itself because God inspired the human authors.
How is the bible like a library of books
-The Bible is collection of many different books
-Some books are less than one page in length
-Other books are a dozen pages or more long
-Each book is divided into many chapter

The word Gospel Means “Good News”

-Means that being critical of what you are reading and not taking it just for word (literally)

Refers to the passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ as an event that conveys the salvation of humanity
