Q

The transfer of products in the urinary system..

A

Blood from aorta, the renal artery carries this to the kidney. The kidney filters out the blood carrying the waste product to the ureter. From the ureter it goes to the bladder where it is hold until excreted. When waste product is ready to leave, it goes to the urethra.

Looking at a picture of a kidney, what is the
Outer layer:
Inner layer:
function of the Renal pelvis:

A

Outer layer: is the Renal Cortex
Inner layer: is the Renal Medulla
Function of the Renal Pelvis: Is a hollowed area that connects with the ureter. It collects urine and transport it to the ureter

Q
  1. What is the afferent arteriole?
A

The renal artery carries blood to kidney and blood enters the glomerulus through the arteriole. It is located in the cortex

Q
  1. What is the Bowman’s capsule and function?
A

The bowman’s capsule creates urine from filtrate of blood from glomerulus. It create this under high pressure. located in cortex

Q
  1. What is the proximal tubule?
A

It is a section of the nephron that joins the Bowman’s capsule with the loop of Henle. It is located in the cortex

Q
  1. What is the loop of Henle?
A

the loop of Henle joins the proximal tubule to the distal tubule. It decends to the medulla but then back to the cortex where the distal tubule is located.

Q
  1. what is the distal tubule?
A

The distal tubule carries the urine from the loop of Henle, to the collecting ducts. It is located in the Cortex

Q
  1. What are collecting ducts?
A

Collecting ducts carries the urine obtained from the distal tubule carrying it to the renal pelvis. There are many nephrons in our kidneys that transport urine from collecting ducts to renal pelvis. This site is merge from Cortex to Medulla in the kidney.
