Public Bills involve matters of public policy and affects the general public. They are introduced by the government e.g. Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment Act 2012

A Private Bill affects a particular organisation, place or person. They are introduced by organisations e.g. Faversham Oyster Fishery Company Bill 2016
What is a Hybrid Bill?
A Hybrid Bill is introduced by the government but affects an organisation, person or place e.g. Crossrail Acts

First reading, second reading, committee stage, report stage, third reading (repeat in other house), royal assent
