Made up of around 20 senior ministers, each minister is responsible for a particular issue. They can be removed.

What is a statute?
A law made by the highest powers (Parliament)
3 Functions of Parliament
1) Examining and challenging the work of the Government (scrutiny)
2) Debating and passing all laws (legislation)
3) Enabling the Government to raise taxes
Examining and challenging the work of the Government (scrutiny)
The principle methods of scrutiny are things such as: questioning, government minister, debating and the investigative work of select committees.

Debates are a good way of probing, Parliament is responsible for approving new laws. The gov introduces new plans for new laws or changes in existing laws.
GENDER RECOGNITION ACT 2004 - Allows those over the age of 18 to be recognised and have the right to live by their acquired gender.
Enabling the Government to raise taxes
Parliament will discuss and debate the need to raise/lower taxes dependent on the needs of the country. EG - V.A.T (value added tax)
Different types of taxes
V.A.T (value added tax), Council tax (bin collection, roads, etc.), road tax, income tax, corporation tax, inheritance tax.
