What is the process of changing the law through parliament

A

First reading - the title of the bill is read

Second reading- The purpose of the bill is explained and a vote is taken

Committee stages- The bill is debated in detail clause by clause and amendments may be made

Third reading - further debate may tak eplace

Passes to second house of parliament - The same stages are repeated

Royal assent - Sent to governer general for approval and signature

Proclmation- Bill becomes a law
