Park's Disaster Response Curve Flashcards
Park model basics
The park model shows that hazards have varying impacts over time: before the disaster; when the event happens; and post-event relief (rescue), rehabilitation (restoring the functioning of public services) and reconstruction (rebuilding the public and economic system, replacing infrastructure and governance). The disaster-response curve shows how the effect of a disaster on people can be generalised
The Park model will be affected by…
- The magnitude of the event
- The speed of onset
- Human monitoring
- Preparedness
- Quality and quantity of relief
