Parcial 2 S2 Flashcards
What is an ion?
An ion is a charged atom or molecule (because the protons and electrons are not balanced)
What charges can an ion have?
Positive and negative
How it’s a positive ion called? why is it positive?
A cation. Because it has more protons than electrons.
How it’s a negative ion called? why is it negative?
Anion. Because it has more electrons than protons.
Which ion goes first when writing the formula of a pair of metal and nonmetal ions?
The cations (metals) always go first.
What happens when the two ions have the same number of protons and electrons?
You reduce the common factors (erase them)
What is a type II bivalent binary ionic compound?
Those in which a cation and an anion are present, but metal present may form two or more cations with different charges.
What is cellular reproduction?
The process by which cells duplicate themselves.
Types of cellular reproduction:
Mitosis (asexual) and meiosis (sexual)
Phases of cellular reproduction:
Inter, pro, meta, ana, telo
