What are the visual signs of fleas?
A
- Flea dirt
- sore red patches of skin and sometimes hair loss
- actual fleas
- excessive scratching or chewing

What do you do if you spot fleas?
A
- tell the owner
- assess dog for matting, they may need to be clipped off
- assess severity
- did owner use flea treatment recently

What are the 4 stages of flea life cycle?
A
An adult can lay hundreds of eggs in a few days, these eggs fall off the dog in into soft furnishings. The larva hatch and eat faeces of adult fleas before spinning a cocoon. The pupa can stay in this cocoon for up to a year

What is a tick?
A
A zoonotic parasite that goes onto a host to feed and falls off once full. They can transmit lymes disease in the uk
