Treatment of hypercalcemia paraneoplastic syndrome?
Loop diuretic (“loops lose calcium”)
Bisphosphonates
Treat the cancer (nephrectomy)
What is Stauffer syndrome?
hepatic dysfunction in patients with NON-metastatic RCC
- majority resolve after primary tumor resection
Polycythemia in RCC is due to what?
elevated erythropoietin
Anemia in RCC is due to what?
elevated lactoferrin (binds iron) and poor nutrition/chronic disease
What is more common, anemia or polycythemia, in RCC?
Anemia
Hypertension in RCC is due to what?
elevated renin
