What is Paramnesia?
term used to describe QUALITATIVE disorders in memory where fantasy and reality are confused

Jamais Vu
The experience of being unfamiliar with a person or situation that is actually very familiar
(You’ve been there before but CAN’T recognise it)
Confabulation
The unconscious filling in of gaps in the memory by events which never took place

types of reduplicative paramnesia
1) Place reduplication- belief 2 places with identical features exist simultaneously- but geographically distant
2) Chimeric assimilation- belief that 2 places are combined-
3) extravagant spatial localisation- belief that current location is actually somewhere else, usually location is familiar.

cryptomnesia
This is characterised by having a thought without realising you have had the thought before (for example, some plagiarists claim they are unaware that they were recounting other peoples work)
