How can you find out if a data set requires parametric statistical testing?
A
By using a histogram to test the distribution of the data using the IQR

What is the criteria for parametric stats?
A
- random, independent samples
- interval/ratio data
- normal distribution
- no outliers
- homogeneity of variance
- sample sizes larger then the minimum

Why are parametric tests preferred?
A
They are more likely to detect a difference that truly exists and less likely to provide a type 2 error.

What is a type 1 error?
A
When we reject the Null hypothesis when it is true therefore we have accepted false results

When we fail to reject the null hypothesis when it is false therefore we have ignored real results
