Paramedic Drugs Flashcards
1
Q
What class of drug is Adrenaline?
A
Sympathomimetic – adrenergic receptor agonist
2
Q
Dow does Adrenaline come in SAAS?
A
1mg in 1mL Glass ampoule
3
Q
What are the actions of adrenaline on the alpha 1 receptor?
A
Increases intracellular Calcium which causes:
Smooth muscle contaction
- Peripheral vasoconstriction
- Pupil dilation
- Decreased saliva
- Sweating
- Urinary retention
- Constricted uterus
- Decreased gut motility (non-pregnant)
- Glycogenolysis
Relax smooth Muscle
- Also decreases gut motility
4
Q
What are the actions of adrenaline on the alpha 2 receptor?
A
- Vaso constriction
- Decrease release of acetylcholine
- Inhibits insulin release in pancreas
- Induction of glucagon release from pancreas
- Platelet aggregation
- Supression of release of noradrenaline by negative feedback
5
Q
What are the effects of adrenaline on the Beta 1 receptor?
A
Increases Cardiac output by:
- Increase HR in the SA node (positive chronotope)
- Increase Contractility (positive inotrope)
- Faster conduction, and more automaticity through the AV node
- Renin release from juxtaglomerular cells
- Lipolysis in adipose tissue
6
Q
What are the effects of adrenaline on the Beta 2 receptor?
A
- Bronchiole smooth muscle relaxation
- Vasodilation in skeletal muscle, brain, heart & kidneys,
- Mast cell stabilisation
- Relaxation of uterus (pregnant)
- Glycogenolysis
