A group or specially and intentionally related sentences; a thought unit; sentences that revolve a single idea and is a writer’s attempt to develop an idea or part of an idea

Is the subject that the selection is all about. Often asked “who or what is the selection all about?”

An author is making about the topic. It sums up the authors primary message

It is usually found in the opening paragraph when the author is setting up the topic and expressing the thesis
