Scripture
The sacred (holy) writings of Christianity contained in the Bible or other religious texts.
Old/ New testament
The first and second divisions of the bible, that prior to Jesus is the old testament
Doctrine
A belief or set of beliefs held and taught by a church, political party, or other group
Papal teaching
Teachings relating to a pope or to the papacy
Evangelical
of or according to the teaching of the gospel or the Christian religion
Conservative Christian
One of the Christian faith whom is averse to change, holding onto traditional values
Godly
Devoutly religious or good. Devout means showing deep religious commitment
Religious Tradition
An established, or customary pattern of thought, action or behaviour within a religion
Authority
The power or right to give orders, make decisions and enforce obedience.
Eschatological
Related to or guided by the end of times, heaven, hell, death and judgment
Commands
A set of authoritative orders
Divine Command Ethics
The view that morality is dictated by Gods commands
Ethical Obligation
A set of “ought to” standards that define a moral course of action.
Obedience
Following an order, request, or law or submission to anothers authority
Disobedience
Not following with an order, request, law or submission to anothers authority
Submission
The action of of accepting or yielding to a superior force, or authority of a person
Sovereign judge
God or an authoritative power as judge of ones deeds. Relates to eschatology
Self-interest
To act in a way that suits one’s own needs
Obligatory
Required by a legal, moral or other rule; compulsory
Qur’an
The central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from God
Conscience
An inner aspect on the individual where a sense of what is right and wrong is developed
Authenticated
Having proved or shown (something) to be true, genuine, or valid
Gods will
That which God instructs his followers; how He wants them to act
Prudently
A wise and well-thought-through decision or action using good judgment
Secular
Not connected with religious or spiritual matters
Free Will
The idea that humans can make free choices especially regarding moral decisions
Mysterious
Difficult or impossible to understand, explain or idnetfy
Influential
Having great influence on someone or something
Vacuous
Having or showing a lack of thought or intelliegence; mindless; empty
Neurosis
Freud describing the conscience - neurosis is a relatively mild mental illness involving symptoms of stress.
