Layout paper
Thin translucent paper with a smooth surface.
Used- Sketching, quick ink, technical drawings.
Cartridge paper
Off- white paper with a slightly textured surface.
Uses- Sketching, rendering in pencil, ink and pastel.
Tracing Paper
Translucent paper, slightly thicker than layout paper.
Uses- copying images when sketching
Bleed proof paper
Similar to cartridge paper but has a bleed proof layer.
Uses- drawing
Treated paper
Plain paper with clear binder or dye layer to help hold the image to the paper. Matt or gloss available.
Uses- photo
Water colour paper
Available in absorbent, smooth or rough.
Uses- water coloured painting
Corrugated card
material has protection against impact.
Uses- packaging, model making, prototype ideas, take away boxes.
Bleached card
Chemically treated to brighten the surface to make it high quality.
uses- Greeting cards
Mount Board
Made from compressed fine cotton fibres to produce a rigid board.
Uses- Modelling
Duplex Card
made from 2 layers of paper, exterior has an extra coat to make it more water resistant
Uses- food packaging, drinks cartons, disposable cups and plates.
Foil Backed and laminated card.
Polymer film or foil applied to a side to add a level of water resistance.
Uses- drinks packaging, milk cartons, take-away box lids.
Metal effect card.
Thin metal effect layer applied to outer surface, can be debossed.
Uses- gift boxes, business cards.
Moulded paper pulp
Recycled paper pulp, moulded when dry to a specific shape.
Uses- eco friendly packaging, egg boxes.
Paper stock forms.
Available in different sizes from A0 to A8. The lower the gms the lighter the paper is.
Polymer based sheet, foam board
Two layers of card with foam in the middle, available in a range of thicknesses.
Uses- Mood board, modelling.
