CENTRALISED ORGANISATION
An organisation in which Mose decisions are made from the head office.
DECENTRALISED ORGANISATIONS
An organisation that allows staff to make decisions at a local level
FLAT STRUCTURE
An organisation with few layers of hierarchy.
HIERARCHICAL STRUCTURE
An organisation with many layers of management therefore creating a tall organisational pyramid.
ORGANISATIONAL CHART
A diagram that shows the internal structure of an organisation
BARRIER TO COMMUNICATION
Something that prevents the flow of communication.
FLEXIBLE HOURS
A contract between a company and an employee that doesn’t specify how many hours of work will be provided.
FREELANCE CONTRACT
An agreement over one job between a company and self employed worker.
PERMANENT CONTRACT
An agreement between a company and an employee.
REMOTE WORKING
Working away from the office -often at nome.
TEMPORARY CONTRACT
An agreement between a company and an employee that work - income will be provided for a set period of time.
APPLICATION FORM
The form that has a series of questions a job seeker must fill in.
CV
Sets out the persons qualifications, experiences and any other relevant information.
INTERNAL RECRUITMENT
Appointing people from within your company.
JOB DESCRIPTION
A short account of the main features of the job
PERSON SPECIFICATION
A description of the type of person who would best fit the job, their character, experience and skills.
REFERENCES
People such as teachers or previous bosses who are willing to answer questions about the qualities of a job applicant.
PERFORMANCE REVIEWS
Discussions between you and your boss about how well you are doing.
RETENTION
A calculation of how many staff stay loyal rather than leaving.
COMMISSION
Being paid a percentage of the value of a sale you have made. E.g. 10% commission.
FRINGE BENEFITS
Rewards you get from work other than pay such as a company car or phone.
REMUNERATION
All the financial rewards received from work - like a salary, gym membership etc.
