Magisterium (KW)
-Council of the Catholic Church made up of the pope and the bishops.
-Given the gift of the Holy Spirit which guides them to make the right decisions
Death (KW)
-The end of physical life
- When the body stops working completely
Eternal life(KW)
-Life in heaven after death
-How Jesus described how we should live
Soul (KW)
-Part of a person that lives on after death of the body
-A name for a human beings mind
Heaven (KW)
-People who have accepted Gods forgiveness in this life, will live forever with god when they die
-This meeting with god is what we call “Heaven”
Resurrection (KW)
-Raising of the body again after death
-Christians believe that Jesus resurrected and that all people will experience it at the end of time
Judgement (KW)
-At the end of our life, we will be faced with a choice to choose or reject god
-The decision we take leads to judgement and decides whether we go to heaven or hell
Hell (KW)
-People who have chosen to reject gods messages have chosen to live away from god forever
-This lack of god for all of time is what we call “hell”
What is the magesterium?
When the pope and bishops act as interpreters of the bible and traditions. Helps catholics to understand the bible when the teachings may not be clear.
Where does the magisterium meet and why?
The Vatican in Rome. To talk about important issues in the modern world.
What is ordinary magisterium?
Everyday teachings of the pope and bishop
What is extraordinary magisterium?
Conciliar= pope, cardinals + bishops discuss big issues in the church.
Pontifical= pope alone makes his own declarations (the pope had the authority to make a final decision)
What is the Vatican II?
The most recent meeting of the general council of the Catholic Church

1960s
