what impact did WW1 have on women?
before the war, women In the USA were still struggling to get the right to vote. The war gave them a chance to work although their wages were often less than what a man would be paid
what happened for women once the first war had ended?
once the war had ended, most women were fired, to open jobs to returning men. One gain from the war was that congress passed the 19th amendment to the constitution, giving WOMEN THE RIGHT TO VOTE under the same state rules as men, it was ratified on the 18th august 1920
once women gained the right to vote, which demographic of women voted the most and why?
educated white women, and they were the ones who thought of the right to vote as significant. poorer women did not vote, or voted the way their husbands told them to. Very few black women voted, especially in the south as it was made harder.
what were the roaring 20s like for women?
Once the war ended there was an expectation that things would return to ‘normal’, including women resuming their traditional roles as wives and mothers
