21
Q

Gamete

A

Gamete is a sex cell

22
Q

Homozygous

A

Alleles are both identical for the same characteristic - AA

23
Q

Heterozygous

A

Alleles are both different for the same characteristic - Aa

24
Q

Selective Breeding Disadvantage

A

. Rare diseases can happen or be selected

. Physical problems

25
Q

Why do flower farmers use selective breeding

A

.Better resistance to diseases

. Harvest faster

26
Q

Why are animals used for selective breeding

A

. Can produce better meat

. Quicker to enter the food chain as they take less development

27
Q

Selective Breeding

A

When humans breed plants and animals to get they’re desired needs

28
Q

Genetic Modification

A

Transferring a piece of DNA from one organism to a different organism

29
Q

PH effect on enzyme activity

A
  1. Heat water to 40 degrees Celsius
  2. One drop of iodine solution in a tray
  3. Measure 2cm cubed of amylase solution in a tube
  4. Add 1cm cubed of a solution with a specific PH in a tube
  5. Add 2cm cubed of starch solution to the tube
  6. Every 20 secs take a small amount of mixture
  7. Repeat with different PH solutions
30
Q

Biological specimens with a microscope

A
  1. Collect a small specimen of cells
  2. Add a drop of water to the centre of a microscope slide
  3. Place specimen onto the drop of water
  4. Use a toothpick to lower a coverslip onto the specimen
  5. Draw one or more of the cells you see
