Proof of Financial Responsibility
1) qualified self-insured 2) Obtain a certificate of deposit in the amount of $30,000 that guarantees 10/20/10 limits 3) Not less than 10/20/10 liability insurance

If financial responsibility did not exist at time of the accident: two things must be met
(1) Valid Claims of others must be satisfied: a. obtain release of liability from all injured parties b. adjuciated not liable in court c. deposits cash up to 10/20/10 (Avoids penalty) (2) Owner-Operator must provide certificate of insurance for future accident: get SR-22 that certifies coverage for next 3yrs, if cxd during that time license/registration is suspended, if operator does not own an auto needs SR-22 by purchasing a named non-owner policy

DUI must purchase 100/300/50 for 3 years and remain violation free for that time to return to standard limits

What are the penalties if financial responsibility did not exist at the time of accident?
Drivers license of operator & tags of all vehicles of the owner are suspended. Unlawful to change tag and registration to another person to avoid penalty - 2nd degree misdemeanor - FR law is reciprocal when driving in other states
