Q

What’s a ghost image?

A

Eg. The x-ray still passes through the left side even if the image receptor is on the right
- creates a ‘shadow image’ over the top

  • less perceivable image

Q

In a ghost image does the image become:
1) larger or smaller & why

3) what side of the image will it be on
4) blurred/clear

Q

What’re some advantages of panoramic radiography?

A
  • shows whole dentition in 1 image
  • time efficient = lower radiation dosage
  • well tolerated by patents with gag reflexes

Q

What’re some disadvantages of panoramic radiography?

A
  • only structures in the focal trough are in focus
  • some overlapping of teeth (harder caries detection)
  • technique is necessary
  • superimposition of soft tissue -> misinterpretation
  • long exposure (patient cannot move)
