Causes of acute pancreatitis?

A
  • Gallstones
  • Ethanol
  • Trauma
  • Steroids
  • Mumps (other viruses include Coxsackie B)
  • Autoimmune (e.g. polyarteritis nodosa), Ascaris infection
  • Scorpion venom
  • Hypertriglyceridaemia, Hyperchylomicronaemia, Hypercalcaemia, Hypothermia
  • ERCP
  • Drugs (azathioprine, mesalazine*, didanosine, bendroflumethiazide, furosemide, pentamidine, steroids, sodium valproate)
