IV Fluids

A

Hypovolemic or Distributive Shock:
20 mL/kg bolus (repeat as needed) over 5-20 minutes; given over 5-10 minutes if severe and/or hypotensive

Cardiogenic Shock or Poisoning:
5-10 mL/kg (repeat as needed), over 10-20 minutes

DKA with Shock:
10-20 mL/kg, per local protocol; if used, give over at least 1-2 hours

Septic Shock:
10-20 mL/kg (repeat as needed), over 5-20 minutes

A

Cardiac Arrest or Bradycardia:

IV/IO: 0.01mg/kg (0.1ml/kg of 0.1mg/ml concentration), max dose 1mg
ET: 0.1mg/kg (0.1ml/kg of 1mg/ml concentration)

Persistent Bradycardia:
consider a continuous infusion, 0.1-0.3 mcg/kg/min

ROSC, Hypotensive Shock:
0.03-0.2mcg/kg/min

ROSC, Normotensive Shock:
0.03-0.05mcg/kg/min

Anaphylactic Shock:
frequently a low-dose infusion (<0.05 mcg/kg per minute) is effective
