Pain physiology, different types of pain Flashcards
1
Q
Nociceptive pain
A
No nervous system lesion or inflammation is present
It is a stimulus-dependant pain, that is provoked by a noxious stimuli
It is adaptive and protects by signalling potential tissue damage
2
Q
Inflammatory pain
A
Active inflammation.
It is an adaptive and reversible protecting pain by producing hypersensitivity during healing
There is an inflammatory response from white blood cells and lymphocytes like neutrophils and macrophages
3
Q
Neuropathic pain
A
When there is a nervous system lesion or disease
There is a marked neuroimmune response
