17
Q

How does central post-stroke pain arise?

A

due to thalamic lesions

18
Q

symptoms of central post stroke pain

A

mild rapidly improving hemiplegia* with initial paraesthesia**

weeks-months after allodynia & dysesthesia***

chorea movement can occur on paralyzed side

* hemiplegia = paralysis on one side of body

** paraesthesia = pins and needles

*** dysesthesia = an abnormal unpleasant sensation felt when touched, caused by damage to peripheral nerves
