What is Paget’s?

A

Paget’s disease of the breast is a rare condition of the nipple which is associated with underlying cancer.

What are clinical features of Paget’s?

A

These features include:

  1. Eczema-like rash on the skin of the nipple and areola. This is may be itchy, red, crusty and inflamed.
  2. Nipple discharge which may be bloody.
  3. Burning sensation, increased sensitivity or pain
  4. Nipple changes such as nipple retraction or inverted
  5. In some cases there may be a palpable breast lump
  6. There may be a skin ulcer which does not heal
