What must peony have to succeed?
A cold winter.
In warmer climates/months, can be manipulated by watering with chilled water. Or depositing ice cubes around root system whilst dormant.

Full sun/Semi shade
Needs sunlight for flowers, prefers cool root area.
Climate?
Temperate/ Dry
Suitable for Mediterranean climates
Soil type?
Well drained.
Flowers better with heavier soil
Likes ALOT of organic matter

Keep well watered

Prepare with blood & bone/ well rotted compost

Dress top with 2inch thick layer of:
- Dolomite lime/pelletised chicken manure

-Remove spent blooms
-Remove old foliage
Likes fresh animal manure

-Botrytis: control with commercial spray
General Tips
- Protect from heavy frosts once growth starts
- Shelter from strong winds
- Pick buds for vases
- Small/no blooms to be expected in 1st Yr.
- Plant thrives after cold winter!
