When do tonsillar bleeds usually occur and why. also, what are the signs of haemorrhage after tonsillectomy
A
Within 6 hours of surgery
Not always immediately as often significant amounts of blood is swallowed
Signs of bleeding
1. Tachycardia
2. Excessive swallowing
3. Pallor and increased CRT
4. Restlessness, sweating
5. Airway obstruction
–> Hypotension is a late sign

What are the major risk factors which predispose to paediatric obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome
A
- Obesity
- Adenotonsillar hypertrophy
