What is the standard ratio for CPR?
5 rescue breaths followed by 15:2
What to do in shockable rhythm?
Administer shock 4 joules kg-1
Resume CPR
After 3 shocks given 10mcg/kg adrenaline (every alternate cycle)
AND amiodarone 5mg/kg (repeat once more after 5th shock)
What to do in non shockable rhythm?
Give adrenaline 10mcg/kg asap then every other cycle after
What to do when someone is unresponsive?
1) Check for safety
2) Call for help
3) Assess for resp effort for 10 seconds
4) Open the airway and look for signs of life
5) Commence CPR
What is the rate of chest compressions?
100-120 beats per min
What is the chest compression technique in infants?
Two finger technique- two fingers above xiphisternum
Can also do thumb technique
What is the chest compression technique in children?
Same as adults but with one hand
What are the 4 H’s?
Hypoxia
Hypovolaemia
Hypo/Hyperthermia
Hypo/hyperkalaemia
What are the 4 T’s?
Thrombus
Toxins
Tamponade
Tension Pneumothorax
What should be done following ROSC?
A-E assessment
Aim for sats 94-98%
Aim for normal PaCO2
Avoid hypotension
Treat precipitating causes
Consider targeted temp control management
Glucose control
