pack Flashcards
What happens during day 7?
The blastocyst reaches the endometrium.
The blastocyst divides into two: Embryoblast and Trophoblast
The embryoblast divides into the epiblast and Hypoblast.
The Trophoblast divides into the Synctiotrophoblast and the Cytotrophoblast.
do 8 and 9 and 10 and 11
What happens on the start of the 3rd week? (Day 12)
The Wnt gene is released
The Wnt gene makes the epiblast go through gastrulation, which is the process by which the epiblast differentiates and gives rise to three layers:
Ectoderm
mesoderm
Endoderm
What are the steps of the process of differentiation during gastrulation
The Wnt genes causes the cells to move around.
1.A primitve streak appears
2.A Primitve pit is then formed
3.A primitive node is formed inside the primitve pit.
The cells then start falling inside the primitive pit/node in a process called invagination.
What cells form the Ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm from the process of invagination?
Cells that fall down the primtive node form the mesoderm and endoderm.
What does the SHH gene do?
The ectoderm layer begins to fold/bend (to form a tube-like shape)
What is the function of the notochord?
acts as the axis of the cells in the epiblast
What is derived from the ectoderm?
Skin - Nervous system - Spinal ganglion
Where is the nervous system derived from?
neural tube (bc tube like the neurons)
spinal ganlia
neural crest cells (bc the spine looks like a crest)
What does the paraxial mesoderm give rise to?
Bones (vertebrae) + muscles & connective tissue around it
Intermediate mesoderm
Urogenital system (bc it is kind of intermediate of your body)
Lateral mesoderm
Somatic - Muscles
Splancnic - Peritoneum (covering viscera)
Endoderm
Parts of the digestive tract - Respiratory tract - Several internal organs.
