Bataan death march
Japan had prisoners of war endure what is now called the baton death march approximately 75,000 prisoners were forced march 60 miles to a camp in heat while surviving the physical abuse the soldiers would beat bandit and even shoot or drive over soldiers who were argumentative or just too weak to physically keep up
Doolittle raid
– James Doolittle put together a plan so beat 24 bombers would fly off of aircraft carriers and drop bombs on industrial targets in Japan. They will continue to go towards China and Land in a friendly territory to be rescued. The plan worked and Japan was scared enough that they start to pull back
Battle of Midway
- The US scored a victory over Japan
- The victory prevented Japan from being able to attack the west coast of America, the battles but combine to be the turning point in the Pacific
Island hopping
– Skipping around Japanese defenses only attacking very important islands the naval ship a play a big role in this as well as the aircraft carrier it would prove to be a successful strategy
Iwo Jima
– You Jima saw a fire that had not been seen before
- Japanese defenders were not surrender and fought to the death
Okinawa
- The US later attack the island of Okinawa
- The island had civilians living on it
