P9 Motion Flashcards
What is the equation of speed?
Speed,v(metres per second m/s)=distance travelled, s(metres, )/time taken, t(seconds, s)
What does gradient represent?
The gradient of a line on a distance time graph represents speed.
What is velocity?
It is speed in a given direction. However it is not always constant if travelling in a circle due to the direction constantly changing.
What is the formula for accelleration?
acceleration, a(metres per second squared, m/s^2
)=change in velocity, triangle v(metres per second, m/s)/ time taken for the change, t(seconds, s)
What does the gradient on the line on a velocity time graph represent?
It represents acceleration.
What is decellaration?
It is used for when any situation occurs when an object slows down.
What does the area under the line of a velocity time graph represent?
It represents distance travelled.
What is the formula for gradient of the line?
the gradient of the line=the height of the triangle/the base of the triangle
How to find the speed on a distance time graph?
It is given by the gradient of the tangent to a line.
