distance
How far an object has moved. It’s a scalar quantity.
Displacement
The distance AND the direction. It is a vector quantity.
Distance travelled (s)
Speed (v) x time (t)
Gradient in a distance time graph
The gradient indicates the speed. The steeper it is the faster an object is travelling. Straight sections show constant speed and curved sections show acceleration or decceleration.
Velocity time graphs
Gradient is acceleration. A flat line is a constant speed and a diagonal line is increase or decrease in velocity (constant acceleration). Curves are increases or decreases in acceleration.
